PROLOGUE
Already 4 years have passed since the Zion-Federal War (today known as The One-year War) came to an end. From the immediate postwar era until now, a great number of people have been narrating, defining, and reviewing the war through various media from the angle of their own points of view in an attempt to draw a generalization. Today, we are also presenting to the public a new pictorial album featuring The One-year War. Whereas there are so many unknown themes to he depicted., why do we venture to take up this subject which has already been so exhaustively discussed? To this question, that readers may well he asking., there is nothing for us to do but remain silent. We have no alternative but to believe that this pictorial album itself will provide the answer. Here, we would like to remind you of the editorial staff's innovation in bringing forth this book. To select approximately one hundred subjects out of an enormous number of photographs taken during The One-year War, we tried to keep in our minds the aim of selecting those which would show the personal experiences of each individual who was swept away by the torrent of history., and the different insights of the countless number of ignorant people who were crushed by the gigantic elephant called war., rather than choosing subjects from the point of view of generalizing the war itself. Therefore, the fact that our readers might possibly find our selection of pictures rather extravagant and lacking in coordination is well anticipated. In order to grasp this versatile theme called WAR, this was the only way we (men among the ignorant masses ) could take.
