Racing Queen Belldandy
E2046 - 1/10 Resin
This model of Belldandy has attracted me from the first time I see her
at E2046 site and I purchased
her. The figure is a very good recast of a prepainted figure sold in Japan,
and the E2046 team made a good work disassembling it and recasting. Few
parts, 11 in total, very little points to polish, the biggest work is
to pin parts and paint them. I didn't want to make the figure stand alone
so I put near her an ARII model of Honda Monkey in 1/12 scale, I know
that they aren't the same scale but in the manga you see always strange
and deformed vehicles so I thinked this would be perfect for this work.
I modifyed a little the bike making new parts or customizing original
ones. As first I put some rivets by Wave on the saddle as the original
bike, the coil part of rear suspensions has been cut and replaced (look
photo) with copper tubing and copper wire for the coil itself. I also
recasted the head of motor so I could paint it better (the original one
was crome plated) and I reconstructed the carburettor because I lost original
one and was also bad. The rear carrier has been modified because I didn't
want the direction lamps and the full carrier structure. I then added
some tubing and the spark plug not present before, also the light glasses
where recasted in clear resin to look more real placing some alluminum
foil inside the headlamp, for last I scratchbuilt the silencer with plasticard
tubing. I also constructed the under side of the fuel tank to look more
real.

The
more interesting work for me was the pinting stage. I tried to make the
skin tone with with the help of some advices from roberto (other Guest
in this site), so I started using some part of Liquitex Titanium White
with a little drop of Phebeo Yellow and a point of Phebeo Magenta or Vermillion
airbrushed. I obtained so a very beautifull skin tone, and I made
it more dark only adding more Magenta or Vermilion. For the eyes I used
the Vallejo colors to have a good blu shading with a good brush. The hairs
have been painted also with Vallejo and I
made a wash of brown by citadel, drybrushed a little with vermin fur and
snakebite leather by citadell and for last
I gived a semi clear varnish by Gunze Sangyo. At this time I made the
t-shirt with Liquitex Titanium White added of a drop of Phebeo green,
adding more I made also shading. The racing suit was made starting with
Cream Yellow Gunze Sangyo with some white to light it, to make it lived
I made also some small points with pure Liquitex Titanium White. The lines
and the green letters were made with Vallejo colors and a brush as the
shoes with Vallejo red and Lifecolor light and medium Gray. I also airbrushed
some semiclear varnish from gunze to protect the Liquitex color (water
color) and to make it no so flat. For the helmet
I used the same Yellow with the insigna airbrushed with green Tamiya
and a FRISKET masking. The diorama base is only a piece of sand paper
number 400 sprayed with gray base and washed with some black oil color,
for last I made a mask with the insigna and airbrushed with flat white
Tamiya. All the Resin parts of the figure have been pinned with brass
tubing. I enjoyed making her and I'm pleased of the final result.
