Rei
Ayanami
Resina - scala 1/8
I
have built this figure of Rei in 2001, it's a beautifull figure with a
good look and very easy to make. All pieces where good enough to only
pin them and make subassemblys for painting. It took me only 4 hours to
make fractioned in 3 evenings. The only thing to do is to look for the
good joint of parts before painting, I leaved detached the two arms, the
two legs, face, head, skirt, trunk and folder to paint them withouth masking
to much parts. For painting I used Tamiya, Gunze and Pebeo plus Testors
Crome silver for the folder protections.
The
only little hard work has been to paint the face and insert between the
hairs pieces, glue the parts, putty them and finally finish the painting
of the hairs (I painted first the inside part of the hairs that partially
cover the face). To have an equal skin tone for all parts I painted legs,
arms and face at same time and then I made lights and shadows with airbrush;
naturally Rei has a clear skin tone so you have a light change of tones
on it. I also tried to make a different base so I printed on photographic
paper the EVA Logo and I covered it (after gluing on wooden base) with
a piece of plexiglass stopped with 4 chrome screws, I think it has a good
looking and it's different from all other base I've seen around. The support
where Rei rests has been painted with chromesilver Tamiya. If you look
under the skirt you can see the slips I painted rose with little red hearts,
normally you didn't see them easy but has been a kind of signature. Finally
I have to say that it has been kind to work on this figure even if I didn't
want to buy for my personal use because there are other figures I prefer.
