Scale 1/100 - Plastic/Modified - Bandai
Making
part 1 -
The idea to make this model went to me the first time that I have skimmed
through an old number of the japanese magazine "Model Graphix"
where is shown the model in matter with a very particular livery but in
the same time simple to realize (at first sight). The start model is very
disproportionate with long legs and stumpy body, and as if it was not
enough in the calves and in the basin of the model two pieces in metal
have been inserted and they make it unstable to the moment of the assemblage
but unfortunately they are almost essential to the to the completion of
the same one. Obviously the model on the magazine had been completely
modified and so for first thing I tried to verify what where the changes
more importants. With a little of patience and the comparison between
two photos in B/N have succeeded to having the exact length of the changes
brought by the author for the magazine. To this point it was tried to
decide how to perform the changes, and what to modify according to my
tastes and my personal attitudes.
Basin
For the side and frontal shields there have been no problems, I have simply
cut and fixed the two pieces to the new distance fullfilling the empty
space with plasticard and polyester Putty. The two side shields have been
made less edged and they received some rectangular trusters above the
original location. For the back shields I added the same type of trusters
but opportunely lengthened since they aren't built in that size and having
recasted them in resin I could do of it how much I need. The basin has
been near to totaly reconstructed gluing some sheets of plasticard and
cutting away the excess. I have maintained the original yellow V however.
I have also recreated the two plans where all the shields are connected.
The aluminum wand has been fixed in the basin making a hole in the inferior
part, filled of resin and I have immediately inserted the wand so when
the resin dried it would have made taking in durable manner.
LEGS
and FEET
For
the legs before beginning to work I had to create a resin recast of the
metal part that is inside the calf. Once done this the rest was simple.
The foot has been lengthened of about 5mm the inferior part has been detailed
in the lodging of the reactor reconstructed and the insoles where redraw.
In the calf I have closed the loopholes for the pistons of anterior movement
and the back link pipes, inserted a sphere of resin where the leg is connected
to the basin.
For how much it concerns the calf I have inserted the resin part I copied
after having reconstructed in brass the two pivots for the foot and the
calf, and I have detailed the back part with the truster. I have widened
the vain and inserted on the sides two cords stiffened with attack and
to the center I have inserted a truster copied by the model of the BigZam
1/350. The cover deflector has been inserted in fixed position after having
closed the vain for the p-cap movement. Once assmbled the legs I have
provided to insert the back pipes created with thread of big copper and
scabbard termorestringente and the two anterior
pistons created with copper pipes and to plasticard tubing.
ARMS
The work on the arms was very low because I had only to lengthen the upper
part about 1cm and cover P-CAPS of the elbows and the wrists with a piece
of Evergreen tubing. The hands are those for RX93 from EXGp B-club in
resin (only pieces taken right out of the box). The shoulders have been
cleened on the inside, fullfilled with polyester putty and after glued
togheter and detailed with trusters by Wave and Photoetches.
