NuGundam Evolution - Making part 2
HEAD
The Head is a copy of the RX93 in 1/72 bought from my friend Marco and
recasted by another friend Gianmarco. Even if made for the 1/72 scale
model the head was perfect for the 1/100 Bandai modified by me, but beeing
recast in a bad way I had to work on it with plasticard and Cyanoacrilate
to close some holes. The front antennas are form the original bandai kit.
CHEST
The chest is the piece that has required more changes in absolute.
The inferior part of the chest has been lifted of 1cm with some sheets
of plasticard. The original piece of the chest has been filled of resin
to make it more strong and to not have problems sanding and cutting away
the exeding od the side of tis piece. The inferior part of the chest has
been remodeled with some sculpey putty. The superior part needed panel
lines to be rescribed or to be made new, the central part of the breast
has been thickened of 2-3mm for part and resculpted. I added two fins
on the right part and modified the neck inserting a sphere of resin to
have a great posing of the head. Around the openings of the shoulders
I have created with plasticard a kind of frame.
JETPACK
Jetpack needed few changes, I only scribed some new panel lines and remaked
the two air vents on the side adding also some details. The bazooka has
been modified in the hand grip in fixed position and a more real mechanics,
also the ammo loader has been updated.
LASER RIFLE
I haven't made any changes to the laser rifle except the hand grip enhanced
in size and pinned to glue to the hand.
FANNELS
Not beeing movable the fannels have been changed in fixed position removing
P-CAPS and closing the holes.
BASE
For the base I have thought about making a writing that identified the
model only considering that it had to seem suspended in the space. I have
digitalized then the writing NuGundam from the assembly box and I have
added the writing evolution made with a sketch program, I have stamped
everything inverse as to the mirror and glued on the back of the low tackiness
masking paper Frisket. I provided to cut by the part what would have been
painted and I attached the everything to the base spraying the color and
fading it in an angle. Once dry the color I have removed the masking tapeand
I obtained the clean writing on the base.
PAINTING
For the painting there isn't too much to say, I used colors Tamiya, Gunze
and Phebeo. The blue sketches have been created first with sketch on paper,
glued and cut out on frisket ( low adhesive masking paper) therefore applied
on the model and I have sprinkled the blue. Varied shades and lights have
been made to airbrush with colors Gunze and Phebeo. Once ended the painting
with a last hand of transparent semigloss (50% opaque and shiny gunze)
I leave it rest for 24 hours and after I positioned the decals with the
help of the liquid Mr.MARK Softer of the Gunze and at last I spryed a
final hand of opaque gunze. To finish all and weather the model a few,
not too considering that it may be near to new, I have performed some
washings to oil with black and earth of burnt siena diluted with turpentine.
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
Considering that I had to proceed in a hurry to end the model to have
it exposed on the occasion of the NKG LuccaComics Contest 2002, I'm happy
of as is the ended model and I have also earned experience with the hand
done masking.
