Preliminary
remarks: I published this articleof this project to put inside the head
of ZAKU FZ a Led, on my way of thinking. Right now I thinked about some
changes but now at this time the eye is done and in any case I am pleased
of the results. Obviously al this means that you don't need to do exactly
what I have done , But if you have some other ideas for improvements put
it down ,it should really do better and you would be very happy of your
own work on the project. For now enjoy with the first part of this project;
the project to place battery and power switch should come next . GOOD
WORK.
Materials necessay to build this project :
Sheet
of Palsticard (Evergreen) of 1,5 mm of thickness
Tube of Plasticard of 3 & 8 mm of diameter
1 Poly-Cap (from some kit)
Liquid Glue
Cyanocrilate
Sanding paper (preferred 400-800-1000)
Red Led (better with flat head)diameter 5mm
30cm elettrical wire of 1mm
Solderer and tin
Modelling blade
Masking tape
hack-saw
Two stilo battery of 1,5 volts
We
start working on the two shells of head, with the blade or better with
a chisel we may take away all inside frames as on photo 01. After That
you can glue togheter parts with liquid glue pressing hard and leaving
to a complete dry.
If it seems that the junction of parts is weak you could apply a veil
of Cyanocrilate on the inside part of head exactly on the joint line.(Photo
02) When done you can use sanding paper to cancel seam lines. The hole
under head may be widen with blade to came as in Photo 02.
To make Zaku's mouth look better you can use Evergreen tubing (3mm diam.)
as in photo 03. After you taked away the excess on the superior part cut
two parts of tube lenght 2mm (3mm Diam.) and a list of this long 5mm and
glue them as on the photo 06 so we can reconstruct the parts cutted before.
Also here use sanding paper to cancel seam lines.
When we finished with the head exterior we may get a POLY-CAP (plastic
joints fo gundam plamodels) , cut half (photo 04) and glue one half on
the interior part of head as in Photo 05 . Pay attention to glue part
exactly on the center on parallel to the bottom of head because if it's
done bad you could not plug correctly the Eye assembly we are constructing
 
At this point we pass to build the internal Eye assembly.
We can start cutting the front part of led (better if we find a already
flat head led). Pay attention to cut in the right way the led and only
the curved part of it as in photo 06. If you cut too much you may damage
the internal part with filament. Use some masking tape to sign the cutting
line to make with hack-saw. Attention because the led's material is similar
to glass . Sand the head to poolish cutted part..
